RRC ECoR Apprentice Recruitment 2026 | Selection Process
East Coast Railway will select Act Apprentices purely through the following process — there is no written test or interview:
- Merit List Preparation: A trade-wise and unit-wise merit list will be prepared based solely on the percentage of marks obtained in Matriculation (10th), subject to a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
- Marks Calculation: Percentage will be calculated using marks of all subjects (not the “best of five” method). Candidates with CGPA must convert it to actual percentage.
- Tie-Breaker: If two candidates have the same marks, preference is given to the older candidate; if the date of birth is also the same, the one who passed Matriculation earlier gets priority.
- Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted candidates will be called for Document Verification at the Railway Recruitment Cell Headquarters, Bhubaneswar, along with a Medical Fitness Certificate.
- Final Selection: Subject to verification of original documents/testimonials and medical fitness.
RRC ECoR Apprentice Recruitment 2026 | Salary & Stipend
Selected candidates will be engaged as Act Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961, and will be paid a monthly stipend at the rate prescribed by the Railway Board from time to time (as per extant rules). No hostel accommodation is provided during training — apprentices must make their own stay arrangements.
Note: As per the notification, apprenticeship training does not guarantee regular employment in Railways after completion. However, candidates completing apprenticeship (CCAA) with a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) get preference for up to 20% of vacancies in direct recruitment to Level-1 posts (Pay Scale: ₹18,000 – ₹56,900) in the open market, subject to eligibility.
RRC ECoR Apprentice Recruitment 2026 | Exam Pattern
There is NO written examination or interview for this recruitment. Selection is based entirely on:
- Merit list prepared from Matriculation (10th) marks percentage
- Trade-wise and category-wise ranking
- Document Verification (DV) of original certificates
- Medical Fitness Certificate submission
This makes the ECoR Apprentice selection process purely merit-based on academic performance, unlike most other railway recruitments that involve CBT (Computer Based Test).
