KPSC Audit Officer Recruitment 2026 | Educational Qualification
Candidates applying for the post of Audit Officer must hold any one of the following qualifications from a university established by law in India, or its equivalent, recognized by the UGC:
- Master’s Degree in Commerce (M.Com), OR
- M.B.A. (Finance), OR
- M.B.A. (Financial Management), OR
- M.B.A. / M.Com (Financial Analysis), OR
- Any other Master’s Degree with “Finance” as one of the subjects, notified by the University Grants Commission (UGC), OR
- Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), OR
- Associate Membership of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI)
Special Provision: Candidates who have appeared for a qualifying examination but whose results have not been declared are also eligible to sit for the Preliminary Examination. However, before appearing for the Main Examination, they must produce proof of having passed the required qualifying examination along with their application; failing which, they will not be permitted to appear for the Main Examination.
KPSC Audit Officer Recruitment 2026 | Selection Process
As per the Karnataka State Audit & Accounts Services (Recruitment) Rules, 2011 (Schedule-2, Section-1), the selection process consists of two stages:
- Preliminary Examination — Objective type (Multiple Choice Questions), used only for screening candidates for the Main Examination. Marks scored in the Preliminary Exam are not counted for final merit.
- Main Examination — Descriptive/Written type examination, used for preparing the final merit list for the Group-B post of Audit Officer.
Candidates will be shortlisted for the Main Examination in the ratio of 1:20 against the number of notified vacancies, based on marks secured in the Preliminary Examination.

Important Notes:
- Qualifying marks in the Kannada and English papers of the Preliminary Exam are 30% for General Merit and 35% average across both papers — marks scored in these two papers are not added to the total for merit ranking.
- Main Exam question papers will be printed in both Kannada and English; candidates must answer entirely in either Kannada or English (except for the language papers themselves).
- Question papers for the Preliminary Exam will be strictly bilingual (Kannada & English) only.

A. There are a total of 15 vacancies — 13 regular posts and 2 backlog posts — for the position of Audit Officer (Lekha Parishodhanadhikari) under the Hyderabad-Karnataka (Kalyana Karnataka) cadre.
