HPSC Food Safety Officer Recruitment 2026 | Education Qualification
To apply for the Food Safety Officer post, a candidate must hold a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in one of these streams:
Food Technology group: Food Engineering, Food Processing & Preservation, Food Biotechnology, Food Safety and Quality Management, and related disciplines.
Or Agricultural Science group: Agriculture, Agriculture Engineering, Dairy Technology, Fisheries, Food Nutrition & Dietetics, Horticulture, Biotechnology.
Or: Veterinary Sciences, Bio-Chemistry, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a recognized Medicine degree (MBBS, BDS, BHMS, BUMS, BAMS, etc.).
Along with the above, candidates need to have completed the training prescribed by the Food Authority (this training is provided after appointment), and must have studied Hindi or Sanskrit as a subject in Matriculation, or Hindi as a subject in higher education.

The Commission generally follows a three-stage selection process:
- Screening Test (may or may not be held, depending on the number of applications received)
- Subject Knowledge Test
- Interview / Viva-Voce
If the number of applicants is very high, HPSC may shortlist candidates based on qualification marks, higher educational qualification, or relevant experience before conducting the Subject Knowledge Test and Interview. The decision on the exam pattern rests entirely with the Commission and is binding on all candidates.

As per the notification, HPSC has not released a detailed subject-wise marks breakup for this recruitment. What’s confirmed is that the process may include a Screening Test using OMR sheets, followed by a Subject Knowledge Test, and finally a Personal Interview.
