Stenographer Grade-II
- Graduation in any discipline from a recognised university.
- CPCT score card from MAP-IT or another agency recognised by the MP Government.
- Hindi shorthand at 100 words per minute from a recognised board or institution.
- One-year diploma in Computer Application from a recognised institution.
Stenographer Grade-III and Grade-III (Court Manager Staff)
- Graduation in any discipline, CPCT score card and the one-year computer diploma, as above.
- Hindi shorthand at 80 words per minute.
Assistant Grade-III (English Knowing)
- Graduation in any discipline, CPCT score card and the one-year computer diploma, as above.
- English shorthand at 80 words per minute.
Computer diploma options
- Diploma from a UGC-recognised university or open university.
- DOEACC or NIELIT diploma-level course.
- Modern Office Management course from a government polytechnic.
- One-year COPA certificate from a government ITI.
- Degrees such as BE (CS/IT), MCA, BCA, MSc (IT/CS), BSc (IT/CS) and M.Tech are also accepted. A BSc or BCom with only one computer subject is not valid.

MP High Court Stenographer Recruitment 2026 | Selection Process
- Online preliminary exam (100 marks): This is only a screening test, and its marks are not added to the final result.
- Shorthand skill test (100 marks): Candidates are called in a 1:5 ratio per post, and tied cut-off scorers are included. Hindi shorthand is held for Grade-II, Grade-III and Court Manager Staff, and English shorthand for Assistant Grade-III.
- Final merit: Prepared category-wise from skill test marks. The minimum marks are 55% for UR and OBC, 45% for SC, 40% for ST and PwD, and 49.5% for EWS. If marks tie, the older candidate is preferred.
- Verification and medical fitness: Documents are checked, and a fitness certificate from the District Medical Board is needed. A candidate can be appointed temporarily if it is submitted within 30 days.
- Counselling: Districts are allotted through counselling by merit and vacancy.
Selected candidates must sign a bond of Rs. 2 lakh and serve for at least three years. Canvassing in any form leads to disqualification.

Shorthand skill test
Candidates get a dictation of about 400 words in 5 minutes, then 30 minutes to transcribe it on a computer, so the total time is 35 minutes. The test carries 100 marks.
- Hindi transcription must be typed in Remington Gail.
- Every error costs 0.5 marks, and answer sheets with more than 120 errors get zero.
- Notes written in longhand in the notebook lead to loss of full marks.
