📖 Important Information
UPSSSC PET 2026 (Advt. No. 16-Exam/2026) — guys, this isn’t just another exam notification. The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) has rolled out what is basically your golden ticket to Group C government jobs in UP.
See, here’s the thing — PET is not just a qualifying exam. It is literally the first and most crucial step in the merit-based shortlisting process for all Group C recruitments. Without a solid PET score, you don’t even get to knock on the door of the main exams.
And listen to this carefully — your PET score stays valid for 3 full years. So if you have multiple valid PET scores in your pocket, UPSSSC will pick your highest normalized score for shortlisting.
🎓 Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification

UPSSSC PET 2026 : Education Qualification

Educational Qualification: Just High School (10th) Pass is enough — Intermediate (12th) is NOT compulsory!

Age LimitUPSSSC PET 2026 — Age Limit: The Crucial Details You Can't Afford to Miss Alright, let's get straight to one of the most important things — age limit. Because no matter how hard you prep, if you don't fall within the eligible age bracket, your form won't even make it to the review table. The Cut-off Date That Matters — 1st July 2026 Mark this date in bold on your calendar: 01 July 2026. This is the crucial date on which your age will be calculated. So if you're wondering whether you qualify or not, don't count from today — count backwards from 1st July 2026. For General (Unreserved) Category Candidates: If you belong to the General category, here's the deal — you need to have completed 18 years of age as on 1st July 2026, and your age should not exceed 40 years on that same date. In simple words, you should be between 18 to 40 years old as of 1st July 2026. The official notification puts it very clearly: "Only those candidates who have completed the minimum age of 18 years as on 01 July 2026 and have not attained the age of more than 40 years shall be eligible." Age Relaxation for Reserved & Special Categories: Now, here's where things get a bit relaxed (literally!) for reserved and special category candidates. The government has your back with age relaxations, and these are as per the existing rules: SC / ST Candidates: You get a relaxation of 5 years over and above the general upper limit. So your maximum age limit effectively goes up to around 45 years. OBC Candidates: You are entitled to a relaxation of 3 years, which means your upper age limit extends to approximately 43 years. PwD (Divyangjan) Candidates: This is the biggest relief — you get a relaxation of 15 years! That pushes your maximum age limit all the way up to around 55 years. So if you've been thinking it's too late, think again. Ex-Servicemen: You get 3 years of relaxation, but there's a condition attached — after deducting your service period, the remaining age should not exceed 40 plus 3 years. So effectively, your upper cap is around 43 years in most cases. Outstanding Sportspersons: If you've represented at a high level and fall under the category of "Utkrisht Khiladi," you get 5 years of relaxation as per the Government Order dated 28.11.1985. That takes your upper limit to roughly 45 years. UP State Government Employees: If you are already serving as a state employee in Uttar Pradesh, you get 5 years of age relaxation as per the Government Order dated 27-08-2013. Again, your maximum age effectively becomes around 45 years. The official document sums it up nicely: "In the case of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Class... the upper age limit shall be higher by such number of years as may be specified by the government.
