Education Qualification

SBI Junior Associate Bharti 2026 : Educaiton Qualification

Educational Qualification for SBI Junior Associate 2026
The basic rule is simple — you need to be a graduate in any stream from a recognised university. It does not matter whether you studied Arts, Science, Commerce, or any other subject. As long as your degree is valid and accepted by the Central Government, you are good to apply.
What if you are in your final year? If you are still studying and waiting for your final semester or final year result, SBI is allowing you to apply on a provisional basis. But here is the catch — if you get selected, you must show proof that you have passed your graduation on or before 31st August 2026. If you fail to produce this proof, your selection will be cancelled straight away.
How will SBI check your passing date? The date printed on your marksheet, degree certificate, or provisional certificate will be taken as the final passing date. In case your university declared the result online first, you can get a certificate from your university authority mentioning the exact date the result was posted on the website. That date will be considered official.
Special case for Ex-Servicemen If you are a matriculate Ex-Serviceman who has served at least 15 years in the Armed Forces, you can still apply even without a regular graduation degree. For this, you need to have the Indian Army Special Certificate of Education or the equivalent certificate from the Navy or Air Force. Make sure this certificate is dated on or before 31st August 2026.
Selection Process

SBI Junior Associate Bharti 2026 : Selection Process

Getting selected as a Junior Associate in SBI is not a one-step affair. The Bank follows a three-phase system, and you need to clear each stage to move ahead. Here is how the entire process works.
  •  Online Preliminary Examination This is the first hurdle. It is a 100-mark objective test that lasts for one hour. The paper is divided into three parts — English Language, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning Ability. Each section comes with its own time limit of 20 minutes, so you cannot spend extra time on any single section. For every wrong answer, one-fourth of the marks allotted to that question will be deducted. There is no fixed cut-off for individual sections or the overall score. SBI will shortlist roughly ten times the number of vacancies for the Main exam, based on the total marks you score.
  •  Online Main Examination If you clear the Prelims, you get to appear for the Main exam. This is the real game-changer because your final merit depends entirely on this paper. The Main exam carries 200 marks and has 190 questions to be solved in 2 hours and 40 minutes. It covers four areas — General or Financial Awareness, General English, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability plus Computer Aptitude. Again, negative marking of one-fourth applies. You must secure the minimum aggregate percentage decided by the Bank to qualify. Reserved category candidates get a 5 percent relaxation here. The marks you scored in Prelims will not be added to your final score. Only the Main exam numbers matter.
  •  Local Language Proficiency Test Once you qualify the Main exam, there is one more filter. If you have studied the specified local language of your chosen state in Class 10th or 12th, you are exempted from this test. But if you have not, you must appear for a language test before joining. This test has both non-verbal and verbal sections. Failing this test means you will not get the job offer, even if you scored well in the Main exam.
  • Final Merit and Wait List The merit list is prepared state-wise and category-wise purely on your Main exam performance. SBI also maintains a wait list of up to 50 percent of the vacancies. This wait list stays active for one year, and candidates from it are called in case selected candidates do not join or resign.
Salary / Pay Scale

SBI Junior Associate Bharti 2026 : Salary-Pay Scale

The starting basic pay for a newly recruited Junior Associate is ₹26,730 per month. This already includes two advance increments given to graduate recruits — without them, the base would be ₹24,050.
When you add Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, and other allowances at current rates, the total monthly salary in a metro city like Mumbai comes to around ₹46,000. This figure may vary slightly depending on your posting location.
Other Benefits
  • New Pension Scheme (Defined Contribution Benefit)
  • Provident Fund
  • Medical coverage
  • Leave Fare Concession
  • Reimbursement of various perquisites
In short, the package is quite attractive for an entry-level clerical post, especially with the added job security and long-term benefits that SBI provides.
Exam Pattern

SBI Junior Associate Bharti 2026 : Exam Pattern

The selection test is conducted in two written phases — Prelims and Mains. Only those who clear the Prelims get to sit for the Mains, and the final merit list is prepared solely on the basis of your Mains score.

Phase 1: Preliminary Examination

This is a screening test of 100 marks and one-hour duration. It is divided into three sections, and each section has its own fixed timing. You cannot jump between sections or save time from one part to use in another.
SectionQuestionsMarksDuration
English Language303020 minutes
Numerical Ability353520 minutes
Reasoning Ability353520 minutes
Total1001001 Hour
For every wrong answer, one-fourth of the marks assigned to that question will be cut. There is no separate qualifying mark for any single section or for the total score. SBI will pick roughly 10 times the number of vacancies from the top scorers to call for the Main exam.

Phase 2: Main Examination

This is the deciding paper. It carries 200 marks, has 190 questions, and gives you 2 hours and 40 minutes to finish.
SectionQuestionsMarksDuration
General / Financial Awareness505035 minutes
General English404035 minutes
Quantitative Aptitude505045 minutes
Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude506045 minutes
Total1902002 Hours 40 Minutes
Again, one-fourth negative marking applies here. You need to score the minimum aggregate percentage fixed by the Bank to qualify. Reserved category candidates get a 5 percent relaxation on this aggregate cut-off. No section-wise qualifying marks are set.
Important: The marks you score in Prelims are not added to your final score. Only the Main exam total decides your rank.
Bonus Marks: If you are a trained apprentice of SBI who completed the programme as per rules, you get 5 bonus marks added directly to your Main exam aggregate.

Phase 3: Local Language Proficiency Test

After clearing the Mains, if you have not studied the specified local language of your chosen state in Class 10th or 12th, you will have to take this test before joining. It is a qualifying test, and failing it means you will not be offered the job even if you cleared the Mains.
Documents Required

SBI Junior Associate Bharti 2026 : Documents Required

When you apply for any government bank job, keeping your documents ready beforehand saves you from last-minute panic. For SBI Junior Associate recruitment, you will need different sets of papers at three stages — while filling the online form, when you go for the exam, and finally when you join the Bank.
Documents Needed While Applying Online
Before you even open the application form, make sure you have scanned copies of these four items ready on your computer or phone:
  • A recent passport-size colour photograph against a light background
  • Your signature done with black ink on plain white paper
  • Your left hand thumb impression using black or blue ink on white paper
  • A handwritten declaration in English exactly as per the format given in the official notification
Each of these has a specific file size and dimension limit mentioned in the notification, so resize them properly before uploading. If your photograph or signature looks blurry, your application may get rejected outright.
Documents to Carry on Exam Day
For both Preliminary and Main examinations, you must bring:
  • Your printed call letter for that particular exam
  • An original photo identity proof such as Aadhaar card, PAN card, passport, driving licence, voter ID, or bank passbook with attested photograph
  • One self-attested photocopy of the same ID proof
  • Two additional passport-size photographs identical to the one you uploaded during registration
If you are using a scribe because of disability, you need to carry the prescribed scribe undertaking form with a passport-size photo of the scribe pasted on it. Remember, the Preliminary exam call letter will not be collected at the centre, but you must preserve it safely because you have to submit it during the Main exam along with your Main exam call letter.
Documents Required at the Time of Joining
This is where most candidates slip up. SBI will verify your original documents before giving you the appointment letter. Keep these ready:
  • Your graduation degree certificate, marksheet, or provisional certificate proving you passed on or before 31st August 2026
  • Class 10th or 12th marksheet or certificate if you are claiming exemption from the local language test
  • Caste certificate in the Government of India format if you belong to SC or ST category
  • OBC certificate with the “Non-Creamy Layer” clause, issued between 01st April 2026 and your date of appointment
  • Income and Asset Certificate for EWS category as per the current DoPT guidelines for the financial year 2025-26
  • Latest disability certificate from a competent medical authority if you are claiming PwBD reservation
  • Ex-Servicemen need to submit the relevant certificate as per Proforma A, B, C, or D depending on their status, along with the discharge book or release letter
  • Apprenticeship completion certificate and joint National Apprenticeship Certificate if you are claiming bonus marks as an SBI trained apprentice
How to Apply

SBI Junior Associate Bharti 2026 : How To Apply

SBI accepts applications only through the online mode. There is no offline form or postal option, so do not fall for any middleman promising to fill the form on your behalf.
Step 1: Visit the Official Website Go to the SBI careers page at https://sbi.bank.in/web/careers/current-openings. Look for the link that says “Recruitment of Junior Associates 2026” and click on it.
Step 2: Register Yourself Click on the “Apply Online” button. You will need to enter your basic details to create a login. Once you submit this page, the system will give you a provisional registration number and password. Write these down immediately — you will need them to log back in.
Step 3: Fill the Application Form Enter your personal details, educational qualifications, category, preferred state or UT, and examination centre carefully. Remember, you can apply for vacancies in only one state. Also, you can save your draft and come back later if needed, but this edit facility is available only three times. After that, you must submit.

  • Left hand thumb impression (use right thumb only if left thumb is missing)

SC, ST, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen, and DXS candidates are exempted from any fee. If the payment fails, do not panic. Register again and complete a fresh transaction.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q1. Can I apply for more than one state under this recruitment?

No, you cannot. SBI has made it very clear that a candidate can apply for vacancies in only one State or Union Territory throughout this entire recruitment project. You must also choose that state carefully because once selected, you cannot ask for an inter-circle or inter-state transfer for the first five years of your service. Only in rare compassionate cases like spouse grounds or extreme compassionate grounds will the Bank even consider your request, and that too solely at its own discretion.

Q2. I am in my final year of graduation. Am I eligible to apply?

Yes, you can apply on a provisional basis. SBI allows final-year and final-semester students to fill the form. But here is the strict condition — if you get provisionally selected, you must produce solid proof that you have passed your graduation examination on or before 31st August 2026. This proof can be your final marksheet, degree certificate, or provisional certificate. If you fail to submit this by the given date, your candidature will be cancelled immediately, no matter how well you scored in the exam.

Q3. What is this local language test, and do I have to appear for it?

It depends on your school records. If you have studied the specified local language of your chosen state in Class 10th or 12th, you are completely exempted from this test. Just produce your marksheet or certificate as proof. However, if you have not studied that language at the 10th or 12th level, you must appear for a Local Language Proficiency Test after clearing the Main exam but before joining. This test has both verbal and non-verbal sections. If you fail this test, SBI will not offer you the job, even if you topped the written exams.

Q4. Can I change my category or any other detail after submitting the online application?

Absolutely not. Once you hit that final submit button, no change is allowed in any field — be it your category, personal details, or state preference. SBI has clearly stated that no correspondence, email, or phone call will be entertained for such requests. That is why you must fill every column with extreme care. Double-check your name, date of birth, category, and state selection before making the payment, because after that, the form is locked forever
