Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP), Kolkata, an autonomous research institute functioning under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, has invited online applications to fill a total of 76 vacancies spread across Scientific, Technical, and Administrative & Auxiliary categories. The posts on offer range from Scientist ‘C’ and Scientific Assistant ‘B’ to Technician ‘B’, Lower Division Clerk, Security Guard, Work Assistant and Halwai-cum-Cook. SINP is one of India’s leading centres for basic research in physics and allied sciences, operating under the Department of Atomic Energy. Through this recruitment drive, the institute aims to strengthen its scientific, technical and administrative workforce across its Kolkata campus and associated national facilities, including the FRENA accelerator and the SINP beamline at the Indus-2 synchrotron facility in Indore. SINP Recruitment 2026 : Educational Qualification
- Scientist ‘C’: M.Sc. in Physics/Applied Physics/Optics/Photonics/Electronics from a recognised university, along with relevant hands-on technical experience depending on the specific post (electronics, laser systems, electron microscopy, or accelerator/beamline operation).
- Scientific Assistant ‘B’: Diploma in the relevant engineering discipline — Computer Science, Electronics & Instrumentation, Electrical, Mechanical, or HVAC — as specified for each post code.
- Technician ‘B’: Higher Secondary/Secondary School Certificate along with a one-year ITI certificate in the relevant trade (Computer Hardware, Welding, Electrician, Draughtsmanship, Carpentry, Refrigeration & AC, Electronics Mechanic, etc.) plus three years of relevant field experience.
- Assistant Administrative Officer-I: Open only to serving government officers on deputation holding an analogous post or with a minimum of 3 years’ regular service in Pay Level 6.
- Lower Division Clerk: Graduate from a recognised university with at least 50% marks; typing speed and computer knowledge are desirable.
- Security Guard ‘A’: SSC pass with physical fitness as per Government norms; preference for Ex-Servicemen and NCC candidates.

Apart from basic pay, selected candidates will also be entitled to Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) and other admissible allowances as per SINP rules.
SINP Recruitment 2026 : Exam Pattern
- Scientist ‘C’: Primarily interview-based; a qualifying written round may precede it depending on the number of applicants.
- Scientific Assistant ‘B’ / Technician ‘B’: A qualifying written test (screening) followed by a practical Trade Test that decides the final merit.
- Lower Division Clerk: Written examination followed by a qualifying typing test (35 w.p.m. in English).
- Security Guard ‘A’: Physical Fitness Test first (qualifying), followed by a written test.
- Work Assistant ‘A’: A single MCQ-based written test.
- Halwai-cum-Cook: Written test (qualifying) followed by a practical cooking skill test.
