Through Brief Notification No. 08/2026 dated 15 September 2026, the Commission has announced direct recruitment to the post of Assistant Environmental Engineer in the A.P. Pollution Control Board, with a total of 40 provisional vacancies on offer.

What makes this recruitment worth your attention is the structure of the exam itself. APPSC has confirmed that there will be a single-level examination only, and no screening test will be held no matter how many applications come in. That single line removes a lot of uncertainty for candidates who have watched other recruitments stretch across multiple stages.

Online applications will be accepted on the Commission’s website from 06 October 2026 to 27 October 2026 (up to 11:59 PM). The pay scale attached to the post is Rs. 57,100 – 1,47,760, which places it comfortably among the better paying technical posts in the state services.

The Commission has been very specific about one point that candidates often overlook. The date of the Detailed Notification will be treated as the crucial date in all aspects, which means age, qualification and every other eligibility condition will be calculated with reference to that date and not the date of the brief notification.

A word of caution from the notification itself: APPSC has clearly advised candidates to submit applications well in advance of the last date so that the last-minute server rush does not cost you the form. Every year a handful of serious aspirants lose the chance for this exact reason.

The brief notification released on 15 September 2026 does not carry the application fee structure. APPSC has stated that details such as fee, community-wise concessions and payment mode will form part of the Detailed Notification, which will appear on the Commission’s website on or before 06 October 2026.

Age criteria for this recruitment have not been published in the brief notification. The Commission has specified that Age, Community, Educational Qualifications and other conditions will all be released together in the Detailed Notification.

One thing is already confirmed and it matters a great deal for borderline candidates. Your age will be counted as on the date of the Detailed Notification, because APPSC has declared that date as the crucial date in all aspects. Do not calculate your eligibility from 15 September 2026.

A total of 40 vacancies have been announced for the post of Assistant Environmental Engineer in the A.P. Pollution Control Board. The Commission has described these as provisional vacancies, and has added that the number is subject to variation upon confirmation being received from the concerned Department. In plain terms, the figure can go up or down before the detailed notification.

Category Wise Breakup

The brief notification carries only the consolidated figure. APPSC has stated that the breakup of vacancies will be published along with the Detailed Notification, so the community-wise distribution, local and non-local split, and reservation for women and PwD candidates will all be clear by 06 October 2026.

The educational qualification required for this post has not been released yet. The Commission has grouped it with the other eligibility conditions that will come in the Detailed Notification on or before 06 October 2026.

However, the syllabus gives a strong hint about the academic background the Commission expects. The written examination is set at Degree Standard, and the Common Subject paper covers fluid mechanics and hydraulics, engineering materials, process calculations and thermodynamics, pollution control technologies, solid and industrial waste management and environmental impact assessment. This is clearly a paper designed for candidates with a formal engineering background in the environmental or allied streams. Candidates should still wait for the exact degree requirement in the Detailed Notification before applying.

The selection process here is refreshingly simple compared to many other state recruitments, and the notification spells it out in clear terms.

Single Level Examination

There will be a single-level examination only. The Commission has stated that no Screening Test shall be conducted, irrespective of the number of applications received. So even if lakhs of forms come in, every eligible applicant goes straight to the main examination.

Online CBRT Mode

The examination will be conducted in online Computer Based Recruitment Test (CBRT) mode. There is no offline OMR paper for this recruitment.

Normalisation of Marks

If the single-level examination has to be held in multiple sessions, the Commission will apply a process of normalisation of marks wherever it is considered necessary and applicable. The methodology will be decided by the Commission and the details of such normalisation will be notified separately in due course.

Computer Proficiency Test

Candidates will also face a Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) of practical type, conducted as per G.O.Ms.No.26, G.A. (Ser.B) Dept., dated 24.02.2023. This is a qualifying test with community-wise minimum marks, explained in the exam pattern section below.

The post of Assistant Environmental Engineer in the A.P. Pollution Control Board carries a pay scale of Rs. 57,100 – 1,47,760.

This is the scale as printed in the brief notification. Allowances such as DA, HRA and other admissible benefits are applicable as per Andhra Pradesh Government rules and will add to the gross monthly package. For a technical entry-level post in a state pollution control board, this pay band places the job among the more attractive engineering openings currently available in the state.

The scheme of examination follows Annexure-VII of G.O.Ms. No. 201, Finance (HR-I) Plg & Policy Dept., dated 21.12.2017. The written test is objective type and set at degree standard.

Negative Marking

As per G.O. Ms. No. 235, Finance (HR-I, Plg & Policy) Dept., dated 06/12/2016, every wrong answer will be penalised with one-third of the marks prescribed for that question. Notice that in Paper II each question carries two marks, so a wrong answer there costs you more than a wrong answer in Paper I. Guesswork is expensive in this exam.

Part A of the CPT covers computer fundamentals, software types, operating systems, Windows, basic Linux and Mac OS concepts, internet concepts, electronic mail and the World Wide Web. Part B is a practical test on an office suite, either MS Office or an open source equivalent such as LibreOffice, Apache OpenOffice or NeoOffice, covering word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software.
