Minimum Qualification
Candidates must have passed a minimum one-year ITI course recognised by the Government in any one of the following trades:

Additional Qualification for Preference (Weightage Marks)
Candidates who have completed an apprenticeship in the same ITI trade in a Government/Semi-Government/PSU/Private Limited company and hold an NCVT (National Council for Vocational Training) certificate and marksheet will get additional weightage in the merit list. The apprenticeship must be in the exact same trade as the ITI qualification β an apprenticeship in a different trade will not be counted for extra weightage.
Computer Knowledge
Candidates must also possess basic computer knowledge as per the standard prescribed by the Gujarat Government (GAD Resolution dated 13/08/2008), through any of the following:
- A recognised institute’s basic computer certificate/marksheet, OR
- A diploma/degree/certificate course in computer knowledge from a recognised university/institution, OR

Selection to the post of Helper will be made purely on merit through the following process:
- Written Examination: A 100-mark, MCQ-based examination (conducted through OMR or CBRT mode, as decided by GSRTC).
- Weightage Calculation: Marks obtained in the written exam carry 90% weightage, while the apprenticeship certificate carries 10% weightage β together forming a total weightage of 100%.
- Merit List: Based on the combined weightage, a category-wise and reservation-wise merit list will be prepared.
- Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates (typically called in a ratio of 1:1.5 against available vacancies) will be summoned for document verification.
- Final Selection List: After successful document verification, a provisional select list and waiting list will be published.
Special weightage provisions:
- Widowed women candidates get an additional 5% marks on the written exam score for preference in selection.
- Sportspersons who have represented at National/International, Inter-University, or All India School Federation level in recognised sports get an additional 5% marks.
