The Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (ESB), Bhopal has released the recruitment notification for the Limited Departmental Competitive Examination for the post of Naib Tehsildar 2026. This exam is meant only for departmental candidates working in clerical cadres under the Revenue Mandal, Commissioner Land Records, Chief Revenue Commissioner, Divisional Commissioner and Collector establishments, as well as employees from the Patwari/Revenue Inspector cadre. Online applications can be submitted from 17 September 2026 to 1 October 2026, and the exam is tentatively scheduled to begin from 14 November 2026.

This is a Limited Departmental Recruitment, so the fee structure is straightforward for all categories.

Note: Backlog post candidates are exempted from paying any additional charges.

MP Naib Tehsildar Recruitment 2026 | Age Limit

As this is a departmental limited competitive exam, there is no separate minimum age bar mentioned; however, candidates must fulfil the following condition:

• Maximum Age: Candidates must not be more than 55 years of age as on 1 January 2026.
• No candidate can appear in this departmental exam more than 3 times.

The 73 total posts are divided into two separate service cadres:

Clerical Cadre – 46 Posts (32 Direct + 14 Backlog)

Patwari / Revenue Inspector Cadre – 27 Posts (12 Direct + 15 Backlog)

Note: 35% horizontal reservation is applicable for women candidates, and 6% horizontal reservation is applicable for persons with disabilities (PwD).

Only serving departmental employees who meet all the below conditions can apply:

• Must be working in the Revenue Department on a clerical post or as a Patwari/Revenue Inspector for a minimum of 5 years (on regular or officiating basis).
• Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree (Arts, Science including Technical/Engineering, Commerce, or Agriculture) from a recognized university.
• Maximum age not exceeding 55 years as on 1 January 2026.
• Minimum qualification must be completed on or before the date of application submission.

MP Naib Tehsildar Recruitment 2026 | Selection Process

The selection for Naib Tehsildar post will be based purely on written examination performance:

• Candidates must secure a minimum of 55% marks in the exam to qualify.
• SC and ST candidates need a minimum of 40% marks to qualify.
• A merit list will be prepared department-wise and category-wise based on marks/percentile scored.
• Selected candidates will need to submit a declaration as per Rule 9 of the MP Junior Administrative Service Rules 2011 (relating to disqualifications like bigamy, more than two children, criminal cases, etc.).
• Final appointees will serve a 2-year probation period along with mandatory training.

Selected Naib Tehsildar candidates will be placed at:

• Pay Level: Level-9 (as per MP Pay Revision Rules 2017)
• Pay Scale: Rs. 36,200 – 1,14,800 (plus applicable Dearness Allowance)
• (Old 6th Pay Commission equivalent: Rs. 9300–34800 with Grade Pay Rs. 3600)

The written exam consists of two papers, each objective (MCQ) type, carrying 100 marks and a duration of 2 hours.

Negative Marking
Every correct answer carries +1 mark, while 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
