Punjab SSSB Clerk & Driver Recruitment 2026 | Education Qualification
- Driver: Matriculation pass + valid driving licence for light and heavy vehicles + minimum 3 years of driving experience
- Clerk (Legal): Law Graduate from a recognized university, plus a written test and Punjabi/English typing test at 30 wpm
- Clerk (Accounts): Graduation with Statistics/Mathematics/Accounts as a subject (Commerce degree specifically for Excise & Taxation Dept), Punjabi passed up to Matric, plus written and typing tests
- Clerk (IT): Graduate/B.Tech in Computer Science, Computer Applications, Information Technology or related field (qualification varies slightly by department), plus written and typing tests
- Translator: Graduation plus a 120-hour computer/IT course from a recognized institute, or an equivalent ‘O’ level DOEACC certificate
- Field Artist: Graduate in Music, Drama or Dance from a recognized university
Punjabi up to Matric standard is mandatory for all posts, as per Rule 17 of the Punjab Civil Services (General and Common Conditions of Service) Rules, 1994.
Punjab SSSB Clerk & Driver Recruitment 2026 | Selection Process
- Written Exam (MCQ) – Held in two parts:
- Part A: 10th-standard Punjabi language paper, qualifying in nature (minimum 50% required to qualify)
- Part B: Main subject paper, used for merit; carries negative marking of ¼ mark for each wrong answer
- Typing Test (only for Clerk and Translator posts) – English and Punjabi typing at 30 words per minute on computer, Punjabi typed in Unicode-compliant Raavi font. This test is qualifying in nature only.
- Merit List – Prepared based on marks scored in Part-B of the written exam (for Clerk posts, only candidates who clear the typing test are included).
- Document Verification / Counseling – Shortlisted candidates are called for verification of original certificates before final recommendation.

- Exam type: Objective / Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)
- Two parts – Part A (Punjabi, qualifying, 50% minimum) and Part B (subject paper, counts for merit)
- Each correct answer: 1 mark
- Negative marking: ¼ mark deducted for every wrong answer in Part B
- Clerk & Translator posts additionally require clearing a 30 wpm English & Punjabi typing test (qualifying only)

- New candidates must first complete “Registration” to generate a User ID (registered email ID) and Password.
- Log in using the User ID and Password.
- Fill in personal, educational and other required details carefully.
- Upload a passport-size photograph and a scanned signature.
- Click “Attach Annexure” and upload the 10th certificate, qualification certificates and other required documents.
- Click “Save Documents”, then proceed to “Make Payment” and pay the application fee online.
- Click “Submit” to complete the application.

Note: Category and category code cannot be changed once the form is submitted. No correction is allowed after final submission, so fill the form carefully.
