The total number of vacancies has been increased from 1401 to 2007 posts, following fresh demand letters received from the Excise & Taxation Department and the Deputy Commissioner, Moga office. Along with this increase, the board has also extended the last date to apply online and pay the application fee to September 14, 2026. Age relaxation benefits are applicable only to bona fide residents of Punjab, and candidates must submit a valid domicile/residence certificate (not older than 5 years) at the time of counselling.

Minimum Qualification Required
- Candidates must have passed Matriculation (10th standard) with Punjabi as one of the subjects from a recognized educational institution.
- A qualifying Punjabi Language test of Matric standard, with a minimum of 50% marks, is mandatory for every candidate — failing this test will disqualify the candidate irrespective of marks in other papers.
- The educational qualification condition does not apply to blind persons, riot/terrorist-affected persons, and candidates applying for the post of Sweeper.

How Candidates Will Be Selected
- A written examination of Objective Type (Multiple Choice Questions) will be conducted.
- The exam will have two parts — Part A and Part B.
- Part A will be a Punjabi Language paper of Matric standard, which is only qualifying in nature (minimum 50% marks required).
- The final Merit List will be prepared based only on marks obtained in Part B.
- Part B carries negative marking — 1 mark for each correct answer, and 1/4 mark deducted for each wrong answer.
- Shortlisted candidates as per merit will be called for document verification/counselling.
- In case of a tie in merit, preference is given first by higher age, and then by higher qualification marks percentage.

Selected candidates for Group D posts will be placed in Level-1 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix, with a pay scale of Rs. 18,000 – Rs. 56,900 per month, along with other allowances as admissible under Punjab Government rules.

Written Exam Structure
- Exam Type: Objective (MCQ-based)

Step-by-Step Application Process
- Visit the official website: sssb.punjab.gov.in
- Click on the “Apply Online” link available under the Group D advertisement section.
- New candidates must complete Registration to generate a User ID and Password (sent to the registered email ID).
- Log in using the generated User ID and fill in personal, educational and other required details.
- Upload a passport-size photograph and scanned signature.
- Click “Attach Annexure” and upload the 10th certificate, educational certificates and other required documents.
- Proceed to “Make Payment” and pay the application fee online as per your category.
- Click “Submit” to complete the application process.
- Download and keep a printout of the final submitted application form for future reference.
