State Bank of India has released its much-awaited recruitment notification for the post of Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales) for the year 2026. This is one of the largest clerical-level hiring drives conducted by SBI, offering a combined total of over 9,000 vacancies (regular plus backlog) across various states and union territories of India. The recruitment is open to Indian citizens who are graduates in any discipline and fall within the prescribed age bracket. Selection will happen through a two-stage online examination — a Preliminary Exam followed by a Main Exam — and candidates will also need to clear a Local Language Proficiency Test for the state they are applying to. SBI Clerk Recruitment 2026 : EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
- Graduation in any discipline from a recognised university, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.
- Candidates in the final year/semester of graduation can also apply provisionally, subject to submitting proof of passing before 31 December 2026.
- Candidates with an Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) must ensure their degree completion date falls on or before 31 December 2026.
- Matriculate Ex-servicemen with 15+ years of Armed Forces service and an equivalent Army/Navy/Air Force education certificate are also eligible.
Local Language Requirement: Candidates must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the specified local language of the state/UT they are applying for.
SBI Clerk Recruitment 2026 : SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process consists of three stages:
- Preliminary Examination — An online screening test.
- Main Examination — A more detailed online test that decides the final merit list.
- Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT) — Applicable only to candidates who have not studied the specified local language at the 10th or 12th standard level.
Only marks scored in the Main Examination are used to prepare the final merit list — Preliminary Exam marks are not added for final selection, they are only used for shortlisting candidates for the Main Exam (roughly 10 times the number of vacancies).
A wait list of up to 50% of vacancies (state and category wise) will also be maintained and released quarterly against non-joiners, valid for one year from the result declaration date.
SBI Clerk Recruitment 2026 : SALARY / PAY SCALE
Pay Scale: Rs. 24050-1340/3-28070-1650/3-33020-2000/4-41020-2340/7-57400-4400/1-61800-2680/1-64480
- Starting Basic Pay: ₹26,730 (₹24,050 plus two advance increments given to graduates)
- Total Starting Emoluments (Metro cities like Mumbai): Approximately ₹46,000 per month, inclusive of Dearness Allowance and other current allowances plus two extra increments for newly recruited graduate Junior Associates.
Selected candidates are also eligible for provident fund, pension under the New Pension Scheme, medical benefits, leave fare concession, and other perks as per bank policy.

Candidates should keep the following ready before and during the examination process:
- Recent passport-size colour photograph (as per prescribed dimensions and file size)
- Scanned signature (in black ink, on white paper)
- Left-hand thumb impression
- Handwritten declaration (in English, as per the format given in the notification)
- One valid original photo ID proof — Passport / Aadhaar / PAN Card / Driving Licence / Voter’s Card / Bank Passbook with photograph, or an ID card issued by a school/college/Gazetted Officer
- Self-attested photocopy of the chosen ID proof
