Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q1. The notification says 100 total questions, but the subject-wise break-up adds up to 150. Which one is correct?

This is a genuine confusion in the advertisement. The text mentions 100 questions total, but the table lists 25 + 25 + 50 + 50 = 150 questions. Since this is an official discrepancy, you should prepare for 150 questions to be on the safer side, but keep checking the IGIB website for a corrigendum. Do not skip any section assuming it won't come.

Q2. I am an OBC (NCL) / EWS / ST candidate. Can I apply under the reserved category and get age relaxation?

No. For this recruitment, only SC candidates get 5 years age relaxation against the reserved post. ST, OBC (NCL), and EWS candidates must apply under the General (UR) category for age limit purposes — they get zero age relaxation. However, ST candidates can still select 'ST' under the fee waiver section to skip the ₹500 payment, provided they upload a valid ST certificate in the Government of India format.

Q3. I am currently working as a regular employee in a Government PSU. Do I need to inform my employer before applying?

Yes, absolutely. If you are a regular employee in any Government department, CSIR lab, PSU, Autonomous Body, Statutory Body, or University, you must upload a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your employer along with your online application. Without this NOC, your form will be treated as incomplete and rejected. Additionally, if you are applying through proper channel, the hard copy of your application must reach CSIR-IGIB within 15 days of the last date.

Q4. Is this only an office assistant job, or will I have to do other work like driving or gardening?

This is not a desk-only job. The notification clearly lists multi-tasking duties including office record maintenance, photocopying, dak delivery, guest house management (cleaning rooms, serving tea/coffee, collecting charges), gardening (mowing lawns, trimming hedges, watering plants, pest control), and even vehicle maintenance and driver duties if required. If you are asked to drive, you will get an honorarium as per rules. You may also have to work in shifts. So apply only if you are ready for physical and varied duties across departments.
