CPCB Recruitment 2026 : Educational Qualification

Qualification and experience requirements differ for each post:

• Scientist-D: First-class Master’s in Environmental Science/Natural Science, OR First-class Bachelor’s in Engineering/Technology (Environmental/Chemical/Civil/Energy & Environment/Biotechnology), along with published research (minimum cumulative impact factor of 10, or 5 books/book chapters, or 5 technical reports) plus 7 years of relevant experience in river/industrial pollution control, sewage management or environmental management.
• Scientist-C: Similar academic background as Scientist-D but with a lower publication threshold (impact factor of 7, or 3 books/technical reports) and 5 years of relevant experience.
• Scientist-B: Same academic stream, along with a valid GATE score (90 percentile or above) or NET-JRF qualification, plus 3 years of relevant experience (research/teaching experience is also considered).
• Assistant Manager (Finance): First-class Master’s in Commerce (Finance & Accounting/Taxation), CA, or MBA (Finance), with 8 years of post-qualification experience covering tax filing, Tally/QuickBooks accounting, GST/TDS/PF/ESI returns and payroll management.
• Administrative Assistant: First-class Bachelor’s degree with computer knowledge and minimum 5 years of administrative experience in Government/PSU/Autonomous bodies, along with a noting-drafting skill test.
• Scientific Assistant: Same academic stream as Scientist-B, with a valid GATE (90 percentile+) or NET-JRF qualification.
• Taxonomist: First-class M.Sc., preferably in Botany/Zoology, with GATE/NET-JRF qualification and research publications as specified in the detailed advertisement.
• Data Entry Operator: First-class Bachelor’s in Science/BCA, along with a skill test in MS Office, English typing at 45 wpm and Hindi typing at 35 wpm.
• Field Assistant: 10+2 in Science with minimum 55% marks, along with basic knowledge of water/wastewater sampling and sample preservation.

Candidates must ensure they hold the required degree (regular, full-time courses only) from a recognised Indian university as on the last date of application.

CPCB has outlined a straightforward, merit-based selection process:

CPCB has not prescribed a fixed, structured exam pattern (like sectional marks or number of questions) in this notification. Instead, the process is interview-based, with a written/screening test used only as an optional shortlisting tool if the number of applicants for a post is very large. Posts like Data Entry Operator additionally require candidates to clear a practical skill test (MS Office proficiency plus English and Hindi typing speed), and Administrative Assistant candidates must clear a noting-drafting skill test. Candidates should treat the interview as the primary and final stage of selection.
