The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the official notification for the Combined Geo-Scientist Examination, 2027 (Examination Notice No. 01/2027-GEOL) on 2nd September 2026. Through this recruitment drive, UPSC will fill 127 tentative vacancies for the posts of Geologist, Geophysicist, Chemist and their Assistant-level equivalents in the Geological Survey of India (Ministry of Mines) and the Central Ground Water Board (Ministry of Jal Shakti). The Combined Geo-Scientist Examination 2027 is conducted in three successive stages:

  1. Stage-I: Preliminary Examination (Objective Type) – Screening test for the Main Examination.
  2. Stage-II: Main Examination (Conventional/Descriptive Type) – For shortlisting candidates for the Personality Test.
  3. Stage-III: Personality Test/Interview – Final stage before preparation of the merit list.
