Punjab District Courts Clerk Recruitment 2026 | Education Qualification

  • Degree: Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science or an equivalent degree from a recognized university.
  • Punjabi: You must have passed Matriculation with Punjabi as one subject.
  • Computer Skills: You need proficiency in operating a computer.
  • Cut-off for eligibility: You must meet all conditions by the closing date of the online application.

Anyone who has married a person with a living spouse (or who has a living spouse and marries again) is not eligible. The High Court can grant an exemption only if the marriage is allowed under the person’s personal law.

Punjab District Courts Clerk Recruitment 2026 | Selection Process

Step 1: Online Written Exam (Computer Based Test)
This is a 100-mark exam. Candidates must score at least 33% in each subject and 40% in aggregate to qualify.

Step 2: Computer Proficiency Test (CPT)
This test is qualifying only, and its marks are not added to the merit list. It has two parts:

  • Spreadsheet Test: 10 marks, 10 minutes. You need at least 4 marks.
  • Typing Test in English: speed of 30 words per minute. It is checked only if you pass the spreadsheet test.

Step 3: Original Documents Check / Interaction
Candidates who clear both tests are called, category-wise, for document verification.

Final Merit: The merit list is prepared strictly on CBT marks. If two candidates score the same, the older candidate ranks higher. If the date of birth is also the same, names are placed alphabetically (A to Z).

Some candidates with disabilities can ask for exemption from the CPT. They must apply within 15 days of the CBT result, with the required disability or medical certificate.

Selected candidates will get a pay scale of ₹29,200 per month (Level-5). This applies to fresh appointments made after 17.07.2020, as adopted from the Punjab Government’s new pay scale rules. Allowances are given as per rules.
