ITBP Constable GD Sports Quota Recruitment 2026 | Education Qualification

Candidates must have passed Matriculation (10th) or equivalent from a recognised board. Certificates from boards other than Central or State Boards must come with a government notification confirming equivalence.

Sports Qualification

Candidates must have participated in, or won a medal at, one of the listed competitions between 01 January 2024 and 01 November 2026:

  • International: participation or medal with clearance from the Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
  • National: represented a State/UT in a Senior or Junior National Championship (recognised federation) or the National Games, with a medal or a position up to 3rd place.
  • Inter-University: represented a university in an AIU/Inter University Sports Board event or Khelo India University Games, with a position up to 3rd place in the finals.
  • Khelo India: represented a State/UT in Khelo India Youth Games (above 18 category) or Winter Games, with a position up to 3rd place in the finals.

Relaxation in height and chest is available for Scheduled Tribes, candidates from the North-Eastern states, Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Dogras, Marathas, and residents of Assam, Himachal Pradesh, J&K and Ladakh. Such candidates must submit the Annexure-VI certificate.

Medical Standards

  • Eyesight must be 6/6 in the better eye and 6/9 in the worse eye without glasses or lenses.
  • Colour blindness leads to rejection.
  • Knock knee, flat foot, varicose veins and squint are not allowed.
  • Tattoos are allowed only on the left forearm or the back of the hands, must be smaller than one-fourth of that body part, and must be of a religious symbol or name.

ITBP Constable GD Sports Quota Recruitment 2026 | Selection Process

Selection happens in these stages:

  1. Online Application Scrutiny: uploaded sports certificates are checked. Missing or wrong documents lead to rejection.
  2. Documentation: original documents are verified and biometrics are taken. The minimum qualifying marks for sports achievement are 10 for all categories.
  3. Physical Standard Test (PST): height, chest (men) and weight are measured. Under- or overweight candidates still move ahead, and the final decision on weight is taken by the medical officer at DME.
  4. Sports Trial Test: 40 marks, qualifying in nature, minimum 20 marks. These marks are not counted in the merit list. Candidates who have represented India in an international event with Sports Ministry clearance are exempt.
  5. Merit List: prepared on sports achievement marks only.
  6. Detailed Medical Examination (DME): held as per MHA guidelines of 2015.
  7. Review Medical Examination (RME): unfit candidates can opt for it by giving written consent within 24 hours.

How Ties Are Broken

  1. Higher marks come first.
  2. If international achievements are equal, the better national achievement wins.
  3. If still tied, the younger candidate is preferred.
  4. If still tied, alphabetical order of the name decides.

  6. Pay the ₹100 fee online if you are a male UR/OBC/EWS candidate. Women, SC and ST candidates skip this step.
  7. Submit the form and take a printout for later use.
