Railway RRB JE Vacancy 2026: 3993 Posts, Application Dates, Exam Pattern & Full Details

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, have released Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) No. 04/2026, inviting online applications for various Junior Engineer (JE) and Depot Material Superintendent (DMS) posts across Indian Railways. A total of 3993 vacancies have been notified in Pay Level 6 (initial pay ₹35,400). Candidates with a relevant three-year diploma or degree in engineering can apply online between 14 August 2026 and 13 September 2026. Selection will be through a two-stage Computer Based Test (CBT-I and CBT-II), followed by Document Verification and a Medical Examination. This is one of the largest technical recruitment drives by Indian Railways this year, and engineering diploma/degree holders aged between 18 and 33 years should not miss this opportunity.

Railway RRB JE Vacancy 2026 : EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

For Junior Engineer (JE) posts:
A three-year Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Civil and allied streams as applicable to the chosen post) OR a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology in the relevant discipline from a recognised university/institute.

For Depot Material Superintendent (DMS) post:
A three-year Diploma in Engineering in any discipline from a recognised university/institution.

Candidates must hold the required qualification on or before the closing date of application (13 September 2026). Candidates awaiting final results are not eligible to apply.

Railway RRB JE Vacancy 2026 : SELECTION PROCESS

The recruitment process consists of four stages:

1. 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT-I) – Screening test
2. 2nd Stage Computer Based Test (CBT-II) – Merit-based, discipline-specific
3. Document Verification (DV) – Based on final merit and vacancy
4. Medical Examination (ME) – As per prescribed medical standards for the post

Final selection/empanelment depends on performance in CBT-II, document verification, and medical fitness.

Railway RRB JE Vacancy 2026 : SALARY / PAY SCALE

• Pay Level: Level 6 (7th CPC)
• Initial Basic Pay: ₹35,400 per month
• In addition, candidates will be entitled to Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Travel Allowance, and other benefits as applicable to Central Government/Railway employees.
• Approximate gross monthly salary (with allowances) generally ranges higher depending on posting location and applicable allowances.

CBT-I (Common for all posts):

Duration: 90 minutes (120 minutes for scribe-eligible candidates)

CBT-II (Discipline-specific):

Duration: 120 minutes (160 minutes for scribe-eligible candidates)

Negative Marking: 1/3 mark deducted for each wrong answer

Minimum Qualifying Marks: UR/EWS – 40%, OBC-NCL/SC – 30%, ST – 25%
